UACE Cochise County Horticulture

In southeast Arizona the number of new acreage planted to perennial crops and specialty food crops increases by at least 4,000 acres annually. Some of these new plantings are by "new" producers thus the high demand for knowledge and information on growing these food items. The selected member will perform a variety of functions in the context of horticulture and plant biology research and operations under the general supervision of the primary investigator in order to fulfill help fill this need and offer instruction and knowledge to the community that would otherwise be too difficult to accomplish by the investigator alone. Some of these duties include the need to: Assist with organizing and delivering outreach programs such as field tours/seminars and assist in organizing/coordinating annual industry educational conferences; operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment; collect, organize, run formulas and summarize data; assist in development of research protocols and assist in connecting directly with community members and researching their inquiries. A pre- and post-evaluation of the member will be given to determine the interest, or increased knowledge of related STEM skills and/or horticulture knowledge and awareness of the need of horticulturists/plant biologists to assist the communities in becoming good stewards of the land and environment.Minimum Qualifications & Skill requirements: Basic understanding of plant biology/botany, experimental design, scientific data collection and research methods, computer literate, knowledge in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Adobe software, effective communication skills in verbal and written, responsible and dependable.Service Areas: Willcox, Bowie, Bonita, San Simon

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
